Suggest Treatment For Cold And Chest Congestion In A Child

Hello sir My daughter is 3yr and 4 months. from past 10 months whenever she catches cold, she gets congestion and she starts breathing in a little faster rate (i have conted approx. 40-41 in a minute). Her doctor prescribed Asthalin and budecort in combination for 2-3 days then Asthalin alone for a few more days. Usually she gets better after nebulizing 2-3 times. its the third time she is having this problem. Is the treatment in correct way. will she overcome this issue after some age. Regards

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is possible that her tendency to wheeze may decrease as she ages but until then she may need better control to prevent wheezing from occurring with each cough/cold. She may need to be started on a preventer inhaler when cough symptoms develop so that she does not wheeze.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
