Suggest Treatment For Cold And Fever In A Child

hi, my 2 and 3yo are both down with a cold. both a running a slight fever. both get melatonin at night. ( 3mg) tonight, without thinking ( because no sleep due to sick kids) i gave them both 1/2tsp of benadryl and 1 melatonin. my 3yo has a fever of 101 so i gave her 1/2 tsp of tylenol. im freaking out because i didnt think about benadryl and melatonin both being sleep aids... ease my mind?

Thanks for posting on HCM
The symptoms the children are presenting are probably symptoms of common cold.Common cold and other upper respiratory infections are mostly caused by viruses.Bacterial causes also exist.Another medical condition that can give these presentation is allergy.You may continue with benadryl which is an anti-histaminine and tylenol and add a nasal decongestant spray if nasal obstruction.You may also advise the children to take enough fluids and avoid cold.
