I am 29 year old male recently quit smoking 2 months ago since then I've been plagued with illness with constant cold symptoms and nasal congestion and I think I've also had a mild right ear infection looking at symptoms which I had no antibiotics for I went to see the doctor in beginning of December as I have been having balance issues and constant popping and crackling on ears mainly the right ear he said I had fluid behind the eardrum in the middle ear ad prescribe me decongestant pills and a nasal spray I took the decongestants for 3 week which only seemed to dry it up as soon as I stopped it got worse again the nasal spray only cleared my nasal cavity not my ears I went back to doctors and I've been referred to a ENT specialist but I have to wait another month to see them any advice on whats causing this or how to ease or cure symptoms would be grately appreciated many thanks
Hi, you probably have glue ear, that is fluid behind the ear drum. I It is treated first with medications like decongestant and antibiotics. If symptoms persists, then myringotomy is done , fluid behind the ear drum ix sucked out and grommet insertion done,. This is only line of treatment to improve your hearing. This needs specialist guidance, so meet your ent as soon as possible get treated.
