Suggest Treatment For Cold And Throat Infection

hello doctor
i am getting very frequent cold and throat infection from past 6-8 months. i am taking Ampilox which was suggested by a physician long back. Is it ok to take it on a month gap or two? also, what should be the right dosage for this medicine?
Also, during cold, i feel that the flesh inside the nostrils is swollen which blocks the nose...not the mucus. Is it a sign of sinus?

Hello there,
First thing is you should not self medicate yourself with Ampilox as it is an anitbiotic and needs to be taken only when a physician prescribes you after ascertaining that you have a particular form of infection. IF you take it frequently and not in the right way that it is supposed to be taken (number of times and number of days) then you may actually get resistant to that antibiotic.
The dosage of this medicine depends on type of infection. usually three times a day for 5-7 days.
The way you describe your symptoms it seems to be a nasal blockage either due to sinusistis or rhinitis. So please visit an ENT specialist who can examine you thoroughly and suggest any X-ray or CT/MRI based on the underlying problem.
Till then try to take steam inhalations 3-5 times a day and hot water gargles 3 times a day. This will reduce your symptoms.
