Thanks for contacting with your health concern and after reviewing your case history following is symptom wise approach:
1. Most fever in general are viral,self limiting and require only symptomatic treatment but before labeling a fever as viral, one must look [as a compulsory] for pallor,
jaundice,neck
stiffness,abdomen for liver & spleen and auscultate the chest.
2. make sure there is no running epidemic e.g. malaria,
influenza,
viral hepatitis,typhoid in the locality, then that cause must be dealt first.
3. If everything comes normal, then general measures which can be practiced is/are:
. cold compresses over forehead,axillae
. bed rest
. semi solid or liquid diet
. avoid exposure to wind, avoid head bath or bath [sponging is ideal]
. Take soft food,plain dal,boiled vegetables,plain water or electral water
.Avoid cold water,oily/fried food
. You can give plain idli,bread butter,toast jam,cornflakes,apple,banana, pear,dry fruits,biscuits
4. If fever does not reduce within 3-4 days of antibiotic treatment,ask for routine investigation like: Hb%, WBC,ESR,
Widal test, Urine & X-ray chest or consult a Physician
5. One should always try to find the cause of the fever by evaluating the associated symptoms
