Suggest Treatment For Cold, Cough And Liquid Discharge From The Ears
I believe I have had a cold for over a week -- coughing, sneezing, constantly dripping clear liquid from my nose. I periodically start coughing and cannot stop. Phlegm comes up when I cough. I do not have chest discomfort. This is an embarrassment at work and when commuting on the train. I cover myself so as not to spread any germs. What can I do to stop this coughing?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of cold, cough and liquid discharge from nose which seems to be due to upper respiratory tract infection and poor immunity of body.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to
- Avoid intake of cold carbonated beverages.
- Avoid intake of sharp spicy food.
- You should maintain oral hygiene. Do warm saline gargles.
- You should apply mist humidifiers in room and take throat lozenges.
Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription. You can go for blood and sputum tests as well. You should take proper course of antibiotics along with antiinflammatory medications.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
