Suggest Treatment For Cold, Cough And Severe Congestion

I am taking buspirone 10mg for dyfunctional dyspepsia, and I have a cold with a cough and congestion. Wondering if I can take Wal-tussin DM cough medicine for some relief. Says not to take it with MAOI drugs and I do not know if busppiron qualifies as a MAOI.

Hello!

Thank you for trusting HCM!

Cold medicine contain Dextromethorphan.

Both Buspirone oral and Dextromethorphan-Guaifenesin oral increase affecting serotonin levels in the blood. Too much serotonin is a potentially life-threatening situation. Severe signs and symptoms include high blood pressure and increased heart rate that lead to shock.

So you can take simple Levocetirizine tablet twice a day for five days. Avoid cool drinks and freeze water, avoid smoking and caffeine. Use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling. If symptoms persist, please consult your doctor. He will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care
