Suggest Treatment For Compensated Cirrhosis

My father was recently diagnosed with compensated cirrhosis. His labs are all still changing since his last alcoholic binge so we can t say for sure how severe yet. No ascites yet. His platelets are not going above 90K. Would diet changes etc do any good for trying to increase his platelet levels?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The platelet reversal takes time over a period as the basic liver function is compromised. The following measures will help for better recovery:
- Control of fluid and salt, protein intake as per guidance of his doc
- Control of blood pressure, sugar, cholesterol
- Regular check of urinary proteins and serum albumin globulin ratio
- Multi vitamin and minerals help great deal
- Ayurvedic preparations as Liv 52 and Ursodeoxycholic acid help certain conditions
- Role of diuretics vary in different situations

However, if you can provide his current drug list intake, I can guide further precisely in this case.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
