Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My head is congested, seems to be my sinuses. I am already on a z-pac, have taken a decongestant and something to help break up the mucous. In the meantime, I cannot hear anything in my left ear, and it is beginning to really hurt. What can I do to relieve the pressure while I am waiting for everything else to work?
As per your complain it seems that congestion in sinuses seems to be due to sinus infection. I would suggest you to consult an otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like PNS view x-ray or MRI scan can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.
You can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, decongestants like pseudoephadrine, do saline nasal irrigation, steam inhalation and use a humidifier in your room. You can also be advised decongestant nasal sprays containing xylometazoline or oxymetazoline. Avoid spicy and chilled foods. Do warm compresses around nostrils. Do warm compresses around nostrils.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora
