Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Good evening My son is almost 3 months old and l2 weeks ago he had conjunctivitis. Went to the doctor and he advised us to use Fucithalmic twice a day. It worked perfectly and the 7 days of treatment ended last Monday. Unfortunately this afternoon he started to have again the yellow coloured thing on his eye. I called the NHS adviser and it was told to me to wipe his eye with warm water with salt, the problem now is, is eye getting worst and it's putting me really concerned. I still have the Fucithalmic, should I use it again? not? keep the water and salt? Thanks for reading.
Hello, Welcome to HCM, Conjunctivitis can usually be managed effectively by following good hygiene strictly esp for babies. Do the following things: *Bathe the eyes – use warm water only and not salt and cotton wool to remove and clean the yellow substance from your baby’s eyes. Start at the centre of the eye, and work outwards. Use a separate piece of cotton wool for each eye. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after. You must bathe your baby’s eyes a 4-5 times each day. * You can use the Fucithalamic eye drops once daily which was recommended by the doctor. If after following above things, still no improvement in 48 hours, or if your baby seems to be in a lot of discomfort, you should again speak to your doctor.
