Suggest Treatment For Constant Coughing With Light Yellow Phlegm
I have constant coughing for 4 weeks now. First two weeks the phlem was yellow to olive green. The last two weeks are opaque to light yellow. No temperature. No nose drainage. Just around throat to chest area. My chest was heavily congested. Took two weeks of mucinex severe congestion and cough. At night, I took a tea spoon of promethazine with codeine syrup. A left over prescribed medicine from my doctor. I have been taking it off and on for three weeks.
Hi, Welcome to healthcare magic. I had gone through your question. I can understand your concern. This could be lower respiratory tract infection. You need an expectorant cough syrup if you have cough with expectoration. Codeine is a cough suppressant should be take only in case of dry cough.
I recommend the following.
1) A course of antibiotics. 2) Analgesics like tablet paracetamol for pain relief. 3) An expectorant cough syrup 4) Avoid smoking as this can aggravate this condition. Ignore this suggestion if you are not having this habit. 5) Drink adequate water to prevent dehydration.
You will be fine.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any questions, I am happy to help you.
Wish you a good health and speedy recovery.
