General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Most cases of acute diarrhea are due to viral infection but based on the medication seen, his doctor suspects that it may be due to a bacterial infection.

The use of the probiotics (econorm) is helpful and would shorten the course.

Preventing dehydration is very important. He needs to be given enough fluids and electrolytes to make up for what he is losing. Pedialyte or a similar agent would be helpful.

In adequate fluids may be contributing to his weakness.

I hope this helps
