Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I consistently have flem in my throat to clear. I am a singer and am wondering if Im singing wrong or if this is another issue. Ive had this for years. Im not allergic to anything I know of. what some advice to help so I can continue to sing without this issue.
There can be two reasons for the constant feeling of phlegm in throat .
- Firstly it can be due to post nasal drip and there can be number of causes that can produce post nasal drip like allergy ( which you already ruled out ) ,upper respiratory infection or sinus infection.
- Secondly it occur due to silent reflux also known as Laryngopharyngeal Reflux . It occur due to dysfunction of upper esophageal sphincter .
I would suggest you to :-
Do warm saline rinses several times a day .
Consult Gastroenterologist as well as ENT specialist for proper diagnosis . If doctor find any infection he/she will put you on antibiotics ( amoxicillin) .It the causative factor will be silent reflux then doctor prescribe proton pump inhibitor and H2 blockers ,also recommend you to change your diet schedule .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
