Suggest Treatment For Constipation And Fecal Body Odor
My mother in law recently started smelling like poop. She is a very classy lady an I m sure she is wiping fine. She recently told me she has been constipated lately, could that be related? My concern is years ago she had several inches of her colon removed due to cancerous cells....

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. The poopy odour she has can be due to poopy odor to flatulence... because of absent bowel clearance. She can try to stool smoothner like Lactulose suspension in addition to increased fiber intake & plenty of water drinking ( 10 glasses) Taking into consideration , her history of colon cancer in past & also her age.. it's better to exclude the possibility of any secondary growth, which can lead to such problem. Please take her to an Oncologist for consultation/ investigations. Thanks.
