My two year old has had no bowel movement for two days the last time she did have one she cried for half an hour and was able to evacuate that was 2 days ago I . She woke up from a nap with a mild fever what can be wrong should I take her to her doctor
hello.. thanks for posting in HCM. constipation in kids can be due to various reasons like low fiber in food, less fluid intake and children withholding stools. If I were your treating doctor, I would have suggested some stool softeners like Docusate sodium or a combination of softener with a laxative like Peri-colase or Dulcolax. these can be safely given in children. constipation can be prevented by giving high fiber diet including fruits, vegetables and cereals.
