Suggest Treatment For Constipation In An Exclusively Breastfed Infant
I have a 2 month old baby who is exclusively breastfed. Up until about a week ago she was having normal consistent bowel movements, pooping quite a bit every time. Then she just all of a sudden stopped and hasn t had one in about a week. She is still peeing normally and she eats normally as well. Since she hasn t had a bowel movement she has been passing gas a lot everyday and when she does it s obvious that she is straining and seems a bit uncomfortable. I called her doctor but really was not helped on the matter at all.
It is quite common among infants. Consult a pediatrician and get evaluated. Lactulose drops can be helpful in some kids. A thyroid function test is also required to rule out hypothyroidism which can be a cause for constipation in kids.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
