Suggest Treatment For Constipation In An Infant

My almost 4 month old hasn t pooped in 16 days. He is a breastfed baby although last weekend I gave him two bottles of formula. The Peditrician suggested I give milk of magnesia 1tsp 2xs per day. I ve read it can be toxic, is this okay to give to such a young baby?

I can understand your concern.
Yes, it can be given to young babies but not more than 5 ml.
But before giving this, we should search for the cause of constipation.
So better to get done ultrasound examination of abdomen, hemoglobin estimation, scrum electrolytes, thyroid function test etc.
If all these are negative then no need to worry for this constipation. Give him plenty of fluids orally and milk of magnesia 5 ml /day.
