Suggest Treatment For Constipation, Sore Buttocks And Pain In Infant
Hi one year old girl consterpated has sore bottom from pushing now she seems to be tensing when wanting to go starts screaming , she does not want to push because she doesn t want the pain , can I numb her poor little bum with bonjela or something else ? Thanks vicky
Some changes in the food of the child may help: * Avoiding foods like rice cereals (absorb water from gut, making stool harder), cow's milk before one year, banana and a low fiber diet * Add fruits and vegetables high in fiber contents like peas, beans, broccoli, banana, peaches, apricot, figs, pears, prunes and dates * Proper hydration of child by giving non-dietary liquids like fruit juices to avoid hardening of stools * Some patients may have minor local ulcers which make the passage of stools harder. It should be treated by local application of Zinc containing emollients.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
