Suggest Treatment For Constipation, Stomach Pain And High Fever

My son has had a fever now for ten days. Last week he had diarrhea and vomiting for 4 days with 103 fever, the ER gave us medicine to stop it as needed and now he s constipated. His stomach and behind still hurt and he still has a fever up to 100.7. How long do we go before going to see a doctor again? Is this a stomach flu? How long can one go with a fever?

Hi dear, I understand your concern

Initially he had diarrhea and vomiting along with fever. Now abdominal pain and fever continues.

This indicates acute gastroenteritis that needs antibiotics and other supportive measures(I am not aware of the medicines you were given initially). Since fever persisted for 10 days, we have to consider typhoid fever also.

If I were your treating doctor, after examining, I would have ordered a few blood tests and urine routine examination and treat accordingly. Kindly get back to your doctor without delay as it is already 10 days now. Delay can lead to sepsis and other complication.

Meanwhile drink plenty of fluids and give fibre rich items like fruits and vegetables- this will help constipation.
