Suggest Treatment For Continued Weight Gain While On Synthroid And Armour Thyroid
Hello. I have been on compound Hormones for approx 8 yrs. I continued to gain weight. Tried Synthroid, Armour Thyroid medications, nothing has worked. Have got all the testing for Thyroid. The Dr increases the armour thyroid from 60mg to 120mg. Still no results. I cry all the time, depressed, sleep constantly, no energy. I m at my wits end. No Dr seems to be able to help me. I have spent alot of money to try to narrow it down. What are your thoughts?
Taking the drug for a long time without proper monitoring of thyroid tests may not produce better symptomatic relief.Thyroid dose adjustments are done based on thyroid tests.
You have not mentioned your thyroid levels.I would recommend you to take thyroid tests-TSH,Free t3 and t4 levels if you have taken them in the last 2 months.
The aim is to maintain TSH levels within optimal range. You may be under-dosed and may require increase in the drug dose.
Weight gain can occur in hypothyroid patients.Mild physical activity is required along with dietary modifications to reduce the weight gain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
