Suggest Treatment For Continuous Cough

i have had a bad cough since february and my doctor wont do anythign about it, its really annoying now as im constantly having to clear my throat and chest, they first gave my antibiotics which did nothing and then tried me on an asthma pump which made me feel ill,, they now wont do anything?

It is possible that you have post nasal drip.

This would be associated with persistently clearing the throat and coughing. It is the most common cause for chronic coughing.

It is most often caused by allergies to some stimulus which can range from foods, pets, dust, pollen etc

Treatment involves: (1)avoiding the allergen if it is known

(2)use of topical steroid nasal spray- eg nasonnex, nasocort, avamys, flonase, rhinocort

need to use for at least a few months

(3)oral anti histamines
