My mother has a corneal abrasion on her right eye. We went to the emergency room yesterday and they showed me the large scratch on her iris, they called it an ulcer or abrasion. She is in a lot of pain and cannot see or stand any kind of light. She can open it but is in a great deal of pain. There is no sign of infection but the eye is still swollen and irritated. The doctor gave her an eye patch, eye drops, and pain medication. When is the typical healing time for a corneal abrasion and what else can she or I do to help with the pain?
What abrasion you have seen is in cornea. This has turn into corneal ulcer. Antibiotic drop like Ofloxacin .3% should be applied 4hourly. Atropine oint ment can be applied once for 3days. it will dial ate the pupil. any analgesic like hifenacp can be taken after food for 3days. Drops should be continued for ten days. ulcer will start healing. Get it confirmed from eye doctor.
