Welcome To HCM
This is Dr Amit. I can understand your concern very well
Costochondritis usually goes away on its own, although in some cases it may last for several months or longer.Treatment part mainly focuses on pain relief.
Your doctor may recommend:
1.Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) .
2.Narcotics. If your pain is severe, your doctor might prescribe medications containing codeine. Narcotics can be habit-forming.
3.Antidepressants. Tricyclic antidepressants, such as
amitriptyline, are often used to control
chronic pain — especially if it's keeping you awake at night.
4.Anti-
seizure drugs
Physical Therapy includes
1.Stretching exercises. Gentle range-of-motion exercises may be helpful.
2.Nerve stimulation
3.Local heat or ice applications
IF CONSERVATIVE MEASURE FAILS THEN YOU CAN GO FOR THE SURGICAL THERAPY IN WHICH YOUR DOCTOR DIRECTLY INJECT NUMBING MEDICINE AND CORTICOSTEROID INTO PAINFUL JOINT.
