Suggest Treatment For Cough After Suffering From Dental Abscess

Hi, my name is Chris Davis and I am 27 years old. I recently had a dental abscess form from a broken tooth. I had the tooth removed 10 days ago, and a few days before that I began taking Amoxicillin for to help fight the infection before I had it removed. I have since finished my antibiotic but I still feel a little swelling in my jaw. I thought nothing of it and decided to just wait and see, but 3 days ago I seemed to get bronchitis. I had a horrible cough and was spitting up quite a bit of phlegm. Now I have a very intermittent productive cough. However, being the hypochondriac that I am, I searched for answers online and now I m worried about the possibility of having a wide array of problems, including pulmonary actinomycosis. So my question is: can bronchitis be a likely occurrence after a dental abscess, and should I give the swelling in my jaw some more time? Or do I need to start looking in to getting more antibiotics?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain productive cough with a history of extraction of tooth due to dental abscess does not seems to be due to it rather it can be due to other causes like Post nasal drip, acid reflux [probable chances as you have taken antibiotics and at times it can cause hyper acidity and acid reflux],upper respiratory tract infection, bronchitis etc..
You should either consult an Otolaryngologist or a Pulmonologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in confirming the cause and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now you can take cough expectorant containing Guaifenesin and Phenylephrine, suck throat lozenges, do warm saline gargles and steam inhalations..
Take soft diet,a void spicy and chilled foods and drink plenty of water..
