Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 6 month old is sneezing, coughing and has watery eyes and a fever. She s not crying, just sitting there, and tears are running down her face. She s coughing a lot. She s sneezing a lot. Very fussy. Crying off and on a lot like she s extremely uncomfortable or in pain or some sort. She has a fever of 101. Of course our pediatrician s office closes at 4:30 and we notice she s warm at 5:30... any suggestions?
It seems like your baby has got a respiratory infection. If she is not very lethargic and taking feeds as usual- nothing to worry- just give her paracetamol drops (100mg/ml) 1ml three times a day and saline nasal drops 2 drops in both nostrils every 6 hours. This will give her symptomatic relief.
If getting better, you can continue the same for 3 days and stop. Salbutamol and antihistamines can help reduce cough but better to start after seeing your doctor. If fever continues, she develops breathing difficulty or becomes lethargic with poor feeding, take her to doctor without delay as she may need an antibiotics and other measures too.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
