Hi, 2 days ago i accidentally mixed toilet bowl cleaner and bleach when cleaning the bathroom upstairs and after i started coughing and my eyes were irritated. after going to a ventilated area i got better but i opened all the windows and put on the fan but the smell is still there in the bathroom and around it. it has been 2 days and the fans are running constantly, what else can i do to get rid of the smell?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Inhalation of fumes can cause irritation of respiratory tract and can also irritate the eyes. Visit your doctor to rule out any chemical pneumonitis. Antihistamines and Proton pump inhibitors may be required. You may need to be under observation for few hours to rule out lung damage.

Vinegar can remove the chlorine smell in the house which can be used in the required area.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
