i am 61 and a smoker. I hand dental work done it took 5 weeks for them to figure out i had a nerve issue. had me on antibiotics and pain bills for 6 weeks. Had my root carnal done. and more antibiotics and pain pills for one more week. my pain is gone and filling good no more pain. but i have had a cough for 3 to for weeks welshing in my chest and fills like light fluid in my lungs. is that a side defect from the antibiotics and pain pills. ?
As per your complain the symptoms of cough and phlem in chest does not seems to be due to antibiotics and painkillers that are given to you for dental infection.. Rather, it can be due to causes like Bronchitis, Lung infection, COPD etc..
Consult a Pulmonologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like chest x-ray, CBC, ESR etc can help in diagnosis and treatmet can be done accordingly..
As of now start taking cough suppressant containing Dextromethorphan and cough expectorant containing Gueifenesin..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
