Suggest Treatment For Cough And Swelling In Throat Glands
im 52 and work for a peds office a child there was said to have pertussis. I ve been coughing for about 1 week already now I have swollen throat glands. red with a white stripe on 1 gland. I don t remember actually coming in contact with said patient but not confirmed if I did or not. major H/A low grade fever. 99.5. called my physician today and have started on abx today just for SX but now am wondering if I may actuall have pertussis. should I call exchange and reply that I may have had contact to pertussis or just keep taking my Z-pack
Hello and welcome to HCM, Swelling and pain in the throat is most probably due to infection. A history of contact with a patient of pertussis raises a possibility of pertussis. However, a throat swab is necessary to know the nature of infection. Depending on the nature of infection, appropriate management can be planned.
