Suggest Treatment For Cough In Children Despite Giving Rhinathiol
Hello....my child s doc had prescribed Rhinathiol (5ml two times a day)...for his cough...it s been 6 days n the dosage was for 7 days...bt the cough hasn t stopped ...instead it s more like a whooping one...I m really worried...my son will be turning 5 years old next week...please help
It sounds like your son likely has pertussis, which often looks like a normal viral illness the first week, but then the second week the cough worsens and is described as "whooping" as you have described.
The treatment for this includes antibiotics, so I would recommend going back to the doctor to check for this and get started on treatment as soon as possible.
Your doctor may also consider giving medication to the family and anyone in close contact with him to prevent this infection from spreading.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
