Hello.
Thanks for writing to HCM.
From the information you have provided, I gather you have been suffering from cough without phlegm for which you have been prescribed Cherratussin which is a combination of a medicine that suppresses cough (codeine) and one which brings out all the phlegm from inside (guiafenesin). Both of these donot cause
increased heart rate. You also seem to have allergic tendencies due to which your doctor has prescribed
Flonase.
You also seem to be suffering from a
urinary tract infection, for which you have been prescribed
Pyridium which relieves the pain caused by the infection.
However, both these conditions i.e.
bronchitis and urinary tract infection cause the body to react to the infection. This happens by increasing the temperature (fever) and heart rate. This is the cause for your increased resting heart rate. I assume, your resting heart rate is much lower than this. However, even this falls under the normal range i.e. 60-100 per minute.
Treatment of the infection will bring down the heart rate back to the baseline. Kindly continue the current treatment.
Wishing you good health.
Regards,
Dr Geeta
