Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I slipped on ice & fell onto cement steps. I am sore inany places, but the initial hit was on my too of my right buttock - from the crack to my hip. It s bad but there is the indentation of the stair on it! It s about 8-9 long. I ve never seen anything like that before. Is that normal for a hard fall?
Most probably you have developed a hematoma on the site of impact. Hematoma is a collection of blood in the tissues in simple words. If there is frank bleeding from the site, worsened pain please see a doctor. Also if there is increased swelling of the area you will need to see a doctor to check if there are any fractures. If there is just a simple hematoma, it will decrease over a period of 2 to 3 weeks without any other complications. But I advise to just get it checked by your health care professional. Thank you and take care.
