over the last few weeks I ve experienced cramping in my shin or calf and my foot responds by tilting upwards and locking where I can t make it go back down. it subsides and gets better once I can stand on it. I m a 53 year old male that has had 5 lower lumbar surgeries and I m 6 2 and weigh 185 lbs..

Hi, I understand your query & concern. The cramps in your calf , causing upward pulling if your anckle.. suggests calcium deficiency. - Start taking tablet of calcium with Vitamin D 500 Mg /day . - take milk 1 glass a day.. it's source of natural calcium. - Vitamin E capsule 400 mg a day for 10 days would help. - Fomentation of the part while there is cramp/ pushing ankle in opposite direction will help to overcome the acute pain. - Continue with physiotherapy exercises ( for L5 vertebral problem) for legs/ foot . thanks.
