Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Have cirrohsis. Just had TIPS procedure done 14 days ago. Swelling and fluid retention in stomach greatly reduced. Problem is, now have extreme swelling and fluid etention in feet, ankles and lower legs... with great discomfort. Presently taking furosimide (40mg). Medication is not working.. Just thankful I no longer have leg cramps. What should I do next?
Hi and welcome to Healthcare magic.Thank you for the query. This may be caused by electrolyte disbalanse so you should have potassium, magnesium or calcium supplements. Also, you should check potassium if you take furosemide. Second possible cause is neuroparhy caused by diabetes or by methabolic disorders. So you should do EMG testing. It should improve if you correct these issues. Wish you good health. Regards
