Suggest Treatment For Crohn S Disease And Fibromyalgia

Hi, my name is Ryan D. I am a student at Purdue University in West Lafayette. I have Crohn s Disease and Fibromyalgia. Right now, I am transitioning from one doctor to a pain care center. My previous Doctor s speciality was Physical Medicine, and she agreed to treat my pain from the diseases, since I was referred to her by her husband, who is my Psychiatrist. I have been on the 75mcg/hr fentanyl patch and have been doing a lot of physical therapy. She did not want to prescribe any breakthrough pain meds, and I told her that I think the fentanyl patches would work better for me if I were to switch them every ~48hrs. We both came to the conclusion that it would be better for me to go to a lain clinic because she didn t know much about Crohns either. She recommended me to a doctor who I have an appointment with on May 17th. She did not know how long it would take for me to get into him at the time so she decided to wean me off the fentanyl, and she did not give me any breakthrough meds. I have been able to tough it out until now that I am on the 25mcg/hr patches. My final exams are next week and I m just in too much pain to think. I called both my old doctor s office and the pain center and they said that they will not do anything for me, that i have to go to the ER or an urgent care center to get some meds to hold me throuhh until the 17th. So my question is, what do i so?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As you must be aware the issue is immune system mediated, and any medicines are going to be supportive caregiver only.

Best things you can adopt is dedicated meditations, YOGA which will help you tremendously over the period of time on a long term basis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
