Suggest Treatment For Curvature Of The Penis While On Methotrexate And Ibuprofen
Hello. I have RA (about 2 years now) and take Methotrexate, ibuprofen, folic acid and lukovorin. I have recently noticed, past 6 months or so ago, that my penis has curved pretty significantly to the left. I have read I may have Periones disease. I have also read that it may be caused by my immune system working against me. Is there anything I can do to help it or reverse it, such as changing medication, vitamin E, or something other then surgery? Thank you, Joe
Yes, Peyronie's disease can be reversed. You are suggested to get it clinically examined by a GP. Your treating doctor may ask you to get USG done to assess the scar tissue, blood flow & other pathology(abnormalities) causing the changed curvature of the penis.
The treatment for acute Peyronie's disease will include treatment with medications (collagenase, penile traction therapy). It may get well in a couple of weeks(2-4 weeks).
If it is chronic Peyronie's disease it may take a longer time to reverse. It will be treated with medicines, injections, traction therapy.
Watchful waiting is required. If there is problem still, surgery may be recommended. Stay connected with your treating doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
