Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello I am 20 years old. I recently had an 8 pound terratoma that was the size of a grapefruit removed along with my right ovary and fallopian tube in August. I found out in November that I have another solid cyst growing on my left ovary about 3 cm. Being that I am young I would like to have kids. Do you think I will lose this ovary too? Also does having an ovary removed shorten life span?
An ovarian cyst can be treated with medicines and on this, your gynaecologist can give you better advice regarding the treatment. Removing an ovary does not shorten the life span so don’t worry about this.
You are aware of the fact that ovary is important when it comes to having kids and you are willing to have kids, if you get proper treatment as per your gynaecologist the other ovarian cyst can be treated efficiently. Again for this its best to talk to your doctor and follow her advice.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar,
