Suggest Treatment For Deflected Nasal Septum And Throat Infection

Good Morning Doctor, I am a sailor.The problem is out at sea I have no sore throat problems but once i Come ashore I am constantly having throat infection.I can t even have one glass of cold water. I am pumping in a lot of antibiotics every 4 to 5 months. Another issue is that I am a mouth breather.it initially started out as I had protruding teeth but doctor say that I have a slight deflected nasal septum.I have tried nose breathing but nose appears almost always blocked. Thank you

Hi,

Welcome to HCM,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

As such, deviated nasal septum causes nasal obstruction and it makes you to take breathing though throat.

Mouth breathing during sleep causes dryness and infection in throat leading to sore throat.

in my opinion, if it's a gross deviated septum, hampering your day to day activities, should be corrected with surgery.

Kindly evaluate with an ent surgeon.
