Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband, 82, very good health, very active (recently hiked on Appalachian trail a mile) and who usually has a very low 50-60 pulse was on the treadmill and machine showed 160 pulse. He tried other machines thinking error but found the same. He felt a little weak but rode bicycle home. Pulse continues to be high and we just checked at Publix grocery at 110 but BP 118-80. He talked to primary care doc who said probably dehydration, drink and rest. If high pulse continues what should be his action?

Suggest Treatment For Dehydration And Weakness
Hello, I have gone through your query and here is my advice. As per your history it may be due to over exertion. Keep him hydrated by giving adequate amount of liquids like oral rehydration solution, coconut water , warm soups. Avoid too much exertion, have proper rest , can do mild breathing exercises. Monitor blood pressure every 2 hourly , watch for dehydration symptoms like dryness of skin and dizziness. If problem continues consult your physician. I hope i have answered your query. Let me know if i can assist you further. Thank you,
