General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
PCOD is a condition causing ovulation problems &that's why the periods get irregular.
Ideally, correction of ovulation ¬ just getting normal periods is important in treatment.
Various investigations are done to find out the cause of ovulation problem followed by patient-specific management (which can be simple periodic cycles of oral contraceptives.
Which spontaneously correct the cause/ovulation-stimulating drugs /surgical treatment).
Once ovulation is reset you would get regular periods &conceive also. Please don't be stressed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
