Suggest Treatment For Depression And Anxiety When Suffering From Hypothyroidism
I have been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and Hashimotis Thrioditis. I was first put on Levothyroxine 0.075mcg. Once I started the medicine I started experiencing symptoms of both of these diseases to the point I couldn't function. I got in with an Endocrinologist he done a more extensive blood work. They upped my dosage to 0.100MCG for 9 days now and I am not feeling any better. I am feeling worse than ever. Depression, anxiety, irritability, and the worst is I am having a hard time with my mental health. I have a hard time focusing, concentrating, and I feel disoriented at times. I am really scared.
Hello thanks for choosing HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Hypothyroidism is one of most common co-morbid medical condition found along with depression and anxiety. You are taking 100 mcg of Thyroxin and these doses are causing anxiety which is also aggravating the other symptoms. If the depressive symptoms and anxiety are intractable then visit a psychiatrist for help. Medicines like Fluoxetine, Sertraline etc can be used for such symptoms. These medicines help to control depression and anxiety and will help in focussing and improving concentration. I would also advise you to get your free thyroid hormone levels (fT3, fT4) checked to find out exact thyroid reserve. Visit a doctor for help.
Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care
