Suggest Treatment For Depression, Anxiety And Suicidal Thoughts

My 22 yold son was recently diagnosed with depression and anxiety, he was suicidal. he was put on 20 mg Prozac, but three days ago when he saw his new Psychiatrist, his dose went up to 40 mg, he was prescribed clonazepam.5 mg and Belsomra 10mg. he took the Belsomra last night, he is still in bed, not wanted to get out, seems depressed, does not want to talk and insists on just sleeping. is this a side effect of the new medication in normal range or should we be worried.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Staying in bed and bad mood are somewhat common in his situation. He may need more time to get used to drugs and to feel better. Give him emotional support much needed at this time.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
