Suggest Treatment For Depression, Shingles And Epilepsy

Dear Dr Kumar, I took the name of the tablets you recommended for my skin condition to my local doctor. He said those tablets are prescribed for epilepsy and neuralgia which involves constant and very strong pain. They cost about $100 per month. He did examine my scalp and saw evidence of some scratching but no lice. He described my conditions as more of an obsession. I have a son who also experiences this condition on occasion but he refuses to use any nit treatment but instead shaves his hair very short. He touches his face a lot at times. He has a few bites which he has scratched on his forehead. He is 27 and has had chicken pox as a child but not shingles. I didn t have shingles until two years ago but had this condition for 6-8 years intermittently before that. I am a teacher and have grandchildren which gives some exposure to nit like conditions. The itch in the pubic region can be quite deep seated. The only relief is to use KP 24 or shave the area. I m prepared to believe that both my son and I might have nerve ending problems. Would Vitamin B shots hel?. My son has, had one major episode if depression about 3 years ago but has weaned himself off medication. We need better answers than this and cannot afford expensive medicines for long periods of time. My local doctor believes that diagnosis should not occur without seeing the patient.

Hello,

Treatment for head lice is recommended for individuals diagnosed with an active infestation, and prophylactic therapy is recommended for bedmates and immediate members of the household of the infested. Hats, scarves, pillow cases, bedding, clothing, and towels worn or used by the infested person in the 2-day period just before treatment is started can be machine washed and dried using the hot water and hot air cycles because lice and eggs are killed by exposure for 5 minutes to temperatures greater than 53.5°C (128.3°F).

Items that cannot be laundered may be dry-cleaned or sealed in a plastic bag for two weeks. Items such as hats, grooming aids, and towels that come in contact with the hair of an infested person should not be shared. Vacuuming furniture and floors can remove an infested person’s hairs that might have viable nits attached.

The pharmacological therapy includes Pyrethrins, Permethrin lotion 1%, Benzyl alcohol lotion 5%, Ivermectin lotion 0.5%, and Malathion lotion 0.5%. Vitamin B shot can be taken but it doesn't help for nits. Shingles has the following treatment options such as antiviral medications like Acyclovir and Valcyclovir, NSAIDs like Ibuprofen, anti-convulsants and tricyclic antidepressants, analgesics like narcotics and antihistamines.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
