Suggest Treatment For Depression While On Citalopram

Hi doctor. I am a fifty five year old Asian lady living in the UK. I was diagnosed with having LLP from a biopsy taken by a dermatologist in India. The doctors in the UK didn t diagnose the condition correctly. This was done in 2009. I developed depression and was prescribed citalopram as the LLP was all over my face and neck. I was on various medications ranging from steroids , Cochicine , hydroxychloroquin and acitretin . Eventually after 7 years in 2015 the e condition stopped. But now to my horror it has come back. Please help me as to what path to take.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Now as I can see here, the medicines which are prescribed to you for your skin condition includes steroids which are known to exacerbate depression. Citalopram can help you fight depression but on the other hand, steroids will worsen it. So, I suggest you consult both dermatologist and psychiatrist and if possible stop steroids and ask for some other safe options.
