Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. The medicines you have mentioned like Bupropion and
Fluoxetine are anti-depressant drugs.
Adderall is a stimulant drug and the drug is not a conventional antidepressant drug. The drug helps to improve day to day activities and increase energy levels and thus help to reduce the symptoms of
depression but it doesn't rally treat depression. Adderall is known to result in dependence and it has high abuse potential.
Fluoxetine is a SSRI drug and is a good antidepressant. The drug is known to cause nausea, vomiting,
restlessness,
dizziness in low doses. Over all this is a safe drug and is relatively nice drug for depression.
Bupropion is commonly used as a drug for mild to moderate anxiety and some times as add on drug for depression. Over all the drug is safe and is associated with mild side effects but in high doses it is known to result in reduction of seizure threshold.
In my clinic I would use Fluoxetine for treatment of depression if I was given choice out of these drugs. Please discuss with a
psychiatrist for detailed prescription.
Thanks, Take care
