Suggest Treatment For Depression

Dear Doc,
I am a 29 yr old female , my height is 5 ft 2 inch and weight is around 65 kg. I tend to feel depressed all the time. I have stomach pain and cramps that seem to have no pathological reason. I tend to have death wish but coward enough not to engage in the same. I feel thoroughly let down by my professional and personal life. My partner does not want to be around the gloom doom me. Please advise.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
hi.. thanks for writing.. i have understood your concerns...

depression is very common psychiatric illness..but one shud not neglect it when s/he has suicidal thoughts..u havent attempted, that is good and appreciable, but u shud talk to somebody and share your feelings..

in my opinion u shud consult a psychiatrist and ask for help...there is no shame in seeking professional help...depression can be easily treated with antidepressant medication and psychotherapy..u shud give it a chance..

with proper treatment u ll be alright and will enjoy life again..

if recently your weight is increasing suddenly, the u shud go for thyroid function tests also..

i hope this advice will be helpful to you...best luck..
