Suggest Treatment For Depression

I m extremely irritable all the time and I often am tired and uninterested. I can t think of anything that I have a passion for other than being away from other people. I have almost no friends but I m just fine talking to people. I have an extremely hard time talking to some, though, and I get overwhelmed very easily. As some background information, my father is an alcoholic and often times when I try to talk to him about it he ll turn the conversation on me and say IM doing something wrong. My entire family picks on me and makes me increasingly miserable every single day. I feel depressed and unhappy every single day as well. I just want answers because my father refuses to take me to a psychiatrist. This isn t normal behavior. What s wrong with me?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello
I can understand your concerns.

Your description points towards a probable depression.
In my opinion, you need a psychiatric consultation.
Antidepressant drugs like escitalopram will help you. Also, some psychological treatments like cognitive therapies can work very well.

A change in attitude of family is must.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.
