Suggest Treatment For Deviated Septum And Swollen Ear Drum
Goodday,
I have been struggling with ear infections, vertigo, numbing around sinus area and nose for quite some time. I have been to an ENT who was adamant that straightening of nasal septum is the only way. I am rather concerned that it could be something serious such as Wegener's but I don't have any Ulcers. My chest does get tight from time to time but I think that is more related to the anxiety from feeling dizzy and the swelling of the ear drum causing this.
I have had MRI of Brain, which revealed deviated septum but no active infection. GP visit two days ago revealed swollen ear drum (with scarring) and irregular movement?
Any solution/suggestion for my ongoing problems...?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain the symptoms of ear infection and vertigo can be due to Menierer's disease that is disorder of inner ear caused by a number of factors like Infection, allergies, improper fluid drainage etc.. The symptoms of numbness around sinus area and nose can be due to sinus infection along with deviated nasal septum.. Consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Audiometry, Electrocochleography,Posturography etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly.. You can be advised medicines like Meclizine, Valium,Promethazine etc..
For deviated nasal septum it is true that Septoplasty or surgical straightening of the septum can help in curing the symptoms while in case if you have congestion or discomfort decongestant nasal drops and anti-inflammatory medication can help.. If there is infection in sinuses antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medication, decongestant and steam inhalations and steroid nasal sprays can help..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
