Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea And Lower Back Pain

The last few weeks I have had really loose stools, lower back pain, around my tail bone (not associated with physical activity). The last few months I have had an urgency to urinate but when I go, low amounts of urine are excreted. I am a 46 year old female, taking levoxyl (after having my thyroid removed), and escitalopram. Should I go see a doctor?

I warmly Welcome you to HCM.

I have worked through your case thoroughly and can realize your health worries.

Probable Causes of Urinary Urgency:-

Urinary Tract Infection, Bladder infection sometimes also present like this. Bladder wall irritation causes an urge to urinate even if there is a small amount of urine in it.

Regarding Gastrointestinal Symptoms:-

For diarrhoea, your age is highly suggestive of a strong recommendation for a Colonoscopy. You need to consult a Gastroentrologist for the same. It may be due to some disease of Colon or rectum. Malabsorption also causes diarrhea of this type.

Some neurological disorders also lead to this kind of issues. As soon as the dirst drop of urine touches the wall of bladder it irritated bladder wall sends impulses back as if it is full and causes Urinary Urgency and frequency. Your Primary care physician may refer you to a Nephrologist too if needed.

Answer to your Major Question:-

Yes, you need to go to your physician for urinary check up and medications prescription, and he will refer you to a Gastroentrologist too.

Medication:-

He may prescribe you Nitrofurantoin antibiotic for urinary infections, and Imodium for diarrhea control until you get to a Gastroentrologist.

Hope it helps. Need further assistance , contact me anytime directly from my profile.
