Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea And Vomiting In A Child
my 5yr old came home from school with diarrhea 7 days ago. 72 hours later, he woke from his sleep vomiting and that lasted roughly 24 hours. Since then he hasnt had a normal appetite or much strength. We thought it had run its course, but 72 hours later, he vomited out of nowhere
If the diarrhea has stopped already and he vomited only once recently, I would recommend you: - make sure you give him plenty of fluids to drink in frequent small amounts during the day so to substitute the fluids he has lost. Giving them in frequent small amount will help him not be nauseated and not throw up. - as for food, you can give him frequent small mounts as well but it might take a while before appetite comes back so do not force him to eat if he is not hungry, just offer small amounts of different food time after time. As long as he gets fluids, it is ok if he does not eat much for a few more days. - if he is not improving in the next 4-5 days or you notice there is any worsening or any new symptoms, you will need to send him to see the doctor.
I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
