Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea, Fever And Vomiting In A 11 Month Old Baby

My son is 11 months and he has had fever for the past couple of days but only from his waist up. His legs are cold to the touch. He won t eat and lately he has develop a horrible rash. He had diarrhea one day and was vomiting the next. What type of infection could it be?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your baby has symptoms of diarrhea, fever and vomiting which seems to be due to acute gastroenteritis and electrolyte imbalance in body. I would suggest you not to panic at all. You should start treatment with combination of fluoroquinolones and ornidazole.Drink plenty of fluids to rehydrate him. Visit pediatrician once and get it examined. You should go for blood tests as well and start treatment after proper examination. You should give Ibuprofen to your husband along with proton pump inhibitors as well. I would suggest you to take antiemetic like domperidone and ranitidine for gastritis.
